Salsa

Salsa is a Latin dance associated with the music genre of the same name which originated in the 1960s in New York City. Salsa is an amalgamation of Cuban dances that were popular in the ballrooms and nightclubs of Havana by the end of the 1950s (e.g. "casino", mambo and pachanga), as well as American jazz dances. Come and enjoy our “POP UP” Beginners Salsa class all included in your monthly membership. This class is taught by World Champion Salsa Queen, Ana Karen Lopez.

Bachata

Bachata is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world but not identically. The basics to the dance are three-step with a Cuban hip motion, followed by a tap including a hip movement on the 4th beat. This class is taught by World Champion Salsa Queen, Ana Karen Lopez.

Kizomba

Kizomba is characterised by a slower, romantic, more sensuous rhythm than the traditional Angolan semba dance. This class is taught by World Champion Salsa Queen, Ana Karen Lopez.

Timba Suelta

Explore timing and rhythm while building smoothness, strength & speed. In this highly energetic class we explore some of the roots and relatives of Salsa in Rumba, Son, Mambo, Cha-cha-chá, Conga, Afro-Cuban folkloric dance and more! Through isolations we gain strength, flexibility and articulate expression throughout the entire body, beginning with the core. We warm up isolated body movements and basic salsa footwork, and move on to explore more complex rhythmic variations, stylistic embellishments and related dance styles building towards completing the class with a dynamic and fun choreography . This class is taught by Angi Alvarez, Director of DAnceOn8 Fitness.

Latin Dance Cardio Party

An energetic dance and fitness class that combines Latin music and moves (Salsa, Reggaeton, Cha-Cha, Merengue, etc).

In one exciting hour of non-stop dancing, you will burn calories, tone your muscles, and energize your body, and mind.  This is also a great dance fitness class to work on your styling, for Latin dance, as basic moves as shimmies, hip rolls (meneos and figure 8s), and torso pulses (trembleques) are used extensively.

This class is taught by Angi Alvarez, Director of DAnceOn8 Fitness.
